I love your work and as a low income person I appreciate this article! I would have to disagree with calling Kraft Singles cheese though.

Not necessarily disagreeing, just sharing some knowledge - Kraft singles are in fact made from real cheese. It’s just been mixed with an emulsifier to let it melt really smoothly.

Nice to see both sides of the marketing coin being acknowledged here! Another talking point that many people in the US often don't know about is (vetted) artisanal/craft food products in a transparent economic chain is VERY expensive because there is no slave labor being used - that often justifies costly purchases for me.

Another great write up. I've found price points can be found for just about everyone. Although I do feel the higher price points north of $10 are more of a niche area similar to restaurants you only go to for special occasions. Given the current trend I'm happy to see more access and exposure to these tins.

Some "affordable luxuries" in my kitchen are fennel pollen, bronte pistachios, wildflower infused honey — my "hot boy food" if you will hahah
